Nortnewydd Stud

Breeders & Exhibitors of Welsh Cobs & Longhaired Cavies

Welcome to the Nortnewydd Stud website.  Firstly a potted history...Queenshead Hero began my love affair with the Welsh Cob.  He is an amazing horse and will always be thought of as the beginning of a long and winding road! Through good and bad he remains loyal and loving, my stud is dedicated to him and his determination to succeed against the odds.  All youngstock produced at Nortnewydd Stud are bred for temperament and ability, but most of all like Hero they are bred to be someone’s best friend.

Six years ago I met a man called St.John Williams.  Little did I know how much his knowledge and his love of the Welsh Cob would shape my future in horses.  I was advised by a horsey contact that he bred Welsh Section D Cobs under the name of the "Queenshead Stud" and that he had just broken a couple to ride that were now for sale, so off I went to have a look, as you do...St. John was all too happy to show me around the horses, Queenshead Hero was a recently broken 4 year old, he had been turned away with the mares for the winter and he thought he was the boss!  He is a beautiful cob, and it was love at first sight, needless to say he came home with me!  We now also have two broodmares from the Queenshead Stud with whom we intend to begin our own line.

The Guineas came after the cobs, we found that the children really enjoyed being involved in a way that they could not with the horses....and so it began!
