Nortnewydd Stud

Breeder of Self DEW, Chocolate & Lilac Selfs, Fox & Tan

For those of you who are new to Nortnewydd firstly a potted history...Queenshead Hero began my love affair with the Welsh Cob.  He is an amazing horse and will always be thought of as the beginning of a long and winding road!  Six years ago I met a man called St.John Williams.  Little did I know how much his knowledge and his love of the Welsh Cob would shape my future in horses.  I was advised by a horsey contact that he bred Welsh Section D Cobs under the name of the "Queenshead Stud".  Queenshead Hero was a recently broken 4 year old, a beautiful cob, and it was love at first sight, needless to say he came home with me!  We then had two mares from the Queenshead Stud with whom we started our own line. We bred some beautiful Section D and Part bred Lippizaner foals, unfortunately due to work commitments we no longer breed cobs and just have Hero and Flicka for riding and cuddling!

Queenshead Hero, 15hh, dark bay, four white feet and a straight blaze...he is a real character.  He spooks at things he has ridden past for days, hates menage rakes with a passion, licks everything and generally behaves like a 2 year old...but I will tolerate it all... because he is simply the best!

Sired by Bronfoel Harri, Grandsire Ebbw. Victor, he is well bred and it shows, he goes well under saddle, with the ability to learn willingly and to please.

Hero's sire, Bronfoel Harri, now standing at the High Flown Stud in Holland

Sadly Hero is suffering with a joint problem and may have to be retired from riding.

Flicka

She is a 15.2hh, chestnut, ID x TB mare called Flicka.  She is a great allrounder, loves jumping and is a great hack.

We are memberas of  the Welsh Pony and Society and we hold the registered prefix "Nortnewydd"
